Our role

After almost a decade of activities to support LCA SPOLD terminated its activities by the end of the year 2001. For documentation purposes, some SPOLD pages are now maintained by 2.-0 LCA consultants, whose employees were heavily involved in many of the SPOLD activities. Project completed December 2001.

The purpose of the SPOLD project was to accelerate the development of life-cycle assessment (LCA) as an accepted management tool for the necessary restructuring of company policies towards sustainable development. The SPOLD format, which is an electronic file format for exchanging data for life cycle inventories, is still used in updated forms for well-known databased such as the ecoinvent database.
